Mother and Child Pass Eye Examinations in 1010 Vienna

Far-reaching changes in the eyes and in visual acuity often happen during pregnancy. First, pregnancy hormones cause dryness of the eyes, the symptoms of which are often perceived as uncomfortable and bothering. The consequence of eye dryness is an increased production of lacrimal fluid. The eye looks glassy and the conjunctiva is slightly reddened. Another commonly observed phenomenon is a change in visual acuity during pregnancy. About 80% of women are affected by this.
